Seed Beads And Fuzzy Construction: Take 1🎬

Ok so…if you didn’t know, seed-bead embroidery takes awhile to make. I mean when you see such detailed stitching, it only makes sense right? I was attaching beads like I was about to win a first-prize award trophy only to think…wait—what if I didn’t make this whole design seed beads only? What if I added fuzzy construction that you can feel (This was a late night thought that hit me Iike dodge ball at recess.)

I thought “Well I’ll be damned” and got to work. The original design that I had on a sample was a duckie wearing a necklace in full blown seed beads like a princess. Don’t worry I gave you a duckie wearing heels with sass and cite quirk instead. So cute, but so much labor time. It was starting to feel like I was charging myself hourly like a mechanic just to finish a piece. It needed to be fun. It needed to be bold. It needed to be like rubbing your fingers across sensory sequins at a fabric store.

It needed fur. I’m not so much a red-color palette person like an Aries (Sorry #TeamAquarius) but what’s a Gumball machine if it isn’t red? I acted like a judge on American idol to decide that red fur it was to bring the candy dispenser classic a new life in fashion.

For the duckies it was a no brainer to do fuzzy mink-like yellow fur. Fun and nostalgic right? There’s also a pink fur duckie, but she’s special and only likes to be worn on Fridays.

Bottom line—the seed beads designs tell a story through their beaded details and fuzzy insides.
